The Barberton Parks & Recreation Department and Beautification Division are seeking individuals interested in summer seasonal job opportunities for the summer of 2024. Detailed information about each position are located below.
Parks & Recreation Summer Seasonal
Starting wage $14.00-$15.00 per hour
Estimated 20-30 hours per week (hours vary)
Some evenings and weekends may be required
Work Date Time Frame: May 13th- September 2nd
*Must be at minimum 18 years old*
Seasonal responsibilities may include and are not limited to the following:

Assist with the execution and implementation of youth, family and adult programs

Assist with fundraisers and special events
-
Assist with youth and adult sports
-
Assist with execution and implementation of watercraft activities/programs
-
Perform administrative duties associated with the Barberton Parks front office and active adult center
-
Attend and receive certification trainings/certificates which are required for safety and specialized programming
Minimum Qualifications
-
Experience with youth, paid or volunteer
-
Excellent organizational and communication skills
-
Able to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings/weekends

Valid Driver’s License

Clear Background Check
-
May be required to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
-
CPR/First Aid Certification
-
Experience or interest in boating/watercraft activities

Management or supervisor experience
Service, Beautification & Utilities Seasonal
Starting wage $16.00 per hour
Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Work Date Time Frame: Mid-May to September 27th
* Must be at minimum 18 years old*
Seasonal will work outdoor within the City of Barberton. Mum Gardens, Flower Beds, Parks. Seasonals will take part in operating simple maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Beautification seasonal employees may be involved in various projects involving city property. Would prefer experience with varying equipment such as two-way radio, walk behind mower, roto-tillers, weed eater, hedge trimmer, skid-loader, blowers, and standard shift vehicles.
Job responsibilities may include:
• Planting mums/flowers
•Treating and maintaining the mum garden/flower beds/hanging baskets
• Trash pick-up
• Graffiti removal
• Painting
• Mowing/trimming and other landscaping duties
• Cleaning workstations, as needed
